Fedora 5 ATI Graphics Radeon support

If you're using Fedora 5, and unable to use ATI Graphics support, Here are the steps to install

  1. # rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm
  2. # yum install kmod-fglrx
  3. # setsebool -P allow_execmod=1
  4. Open /etc/inittab
    Change default init parameter to id:3:initdefault
  5. Reboot
    # ati-fglrx-config-display enable
  6. aticonfig –initial
  7. Change the default init parameter to 5 in /etc/inittab
  8. # reboot

Standard Microsoft fonts (ttf) can be added to Linux, and every web page, that you are accustomed to will look the same. The standard Microsoft fonts include

  • Verdana

Vim: Auto Complete

Most of you programming freaks, like the Auto Complete idea of an IDE (using Ctrl+Space) to complete the word. And all the GUI IDE lovers think Vi is just another “Notepad”.

Beware, VIM is noway behind the IDEs, It too supports your Auto-Complete.
Ctrl+P (match previous tokens) or Ctrl+N (match tokens ahead/next) is an alternative to Ctrl+Space

Bon Echo Features (Firefox 2)

While we are safely browsing using Firefox 1.5.0.2, another world out there is creating testing the Bon Echo wolf, what would be Firefox 2. Firefox 2.0 does guarantee you great offers which (IE7) have not been yet thought of.

I'll Start with some of the directly distinguishable features.

  • Improved Memory Usage
  • New icons for new features and themes.
  • Better usability with Tabs
  • UI for re-opening accidentally closed tabs
